The Process

(almost) everything on the Maison Louis founder:

  • A management degree obtained in Canada (HEC),

  • A degree in Bespoke Tailoring from the London College of Fashion

After a couple of years as a tailor in a couple of Parisian luxury fashion houses, I founded Maison Louis to offer unique pieces handcrafted with haute couture techniques and to promote slow fashion.

Our workshop uses tradionnal tailoring techniques from Savile Row in London. The word « bespoke » refers to the discussion that the tailor has with its clients to talk about the new project and to reserve the fabric they agree on. At this point, the tailor used to put a label on the fabric to put it aside, with a mention « has been spoken of ». What differentiates bespoke from other production methods (ready to wear, made to measure, etc.), is the creation of a unique pattern for every client and handcrafted garments.

The design process starts with a pencil drawing followed by a 3D modelist software with a search of textile fabrics. We are only picking the best fabrics from unused stocks of Parisian luxury fashion houses.

This thorough selection process of upcycled fabrics allows us to offer handcrafted garments made with some of the most luxurious fabrics at a reasonable cost.

Those unique fabrics are the beating heart of the creative process.

A really beautiful leather or a very textured linen will create a garment with a unique personality.
